Our e-waste and electronics disposal services provide our clients with the peace of mind that their retired IT assets and personal devices have been securely disposed of and recycled.

What is e-waste?

E-waste is a broad term referring to business and consumer electronics that have reached the end of their useful life. These electronics can contain hazardous materials such as mercury and lead which should be kept out of landfills. It is also common for modern electronics to have computer components equipped with memory chips which could hold personal information.

The importance of proper e-waste disposal

Protecting information: With the rise of smart devices, more and more electronics contain computer components and memory cards that can hold personal and protected information. For instance, the computer from a vehicle could reveal your GPS history, printers and copiers retain digital versions of the files you copied or printed and smart vacuums carry the room by room layout of your home. Improper disposal of these devices can leave you vulnerable to data theft and invasion of privacy.

Protecting the environment: Various electrical components are manufactured with hazardous materials that can cause harm to the environment if they are sent to a landfill. In order to be environmentally responsible, it is crucial to properly handle and process these materials. Moreover, several electronics and computer components can be recycled in whole or in part for use in new products. Some examples include motherboards, power adapters, CPUs, docking stations, Li-Ion batteries, wires and more.

How our e-waste program works

No job is too big or too small. We can handle everything from the destruction of a single smartphone to the ongoing destruction of retired IT assets of a large corporation. You can bring items to a DSS facility or we can pick them up from your location. Items, such as computers which have removable hard drives will be opened in order to remove and physically destroy the hard drive. The rest of the components will be securely transported to one of our partner locations where they will be further broken down and processed for reuse and recycling.
